Connections: Laura Spencer
What’s your standout memory of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ?
The feeling of arriving home. Happy days with friends in and around campus. That feeling of connection to a place and to others has never left me. I lived in Rootes in the first year and have always felt very rooted to ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ.
How would you sum up ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ in the time that you were there and your generation of students?
The Students’ Union was central to our lives – we had such fun. So much to do and contribute to, each and every day. I was so sad to leave campus after my first year and couldn’t wait to get back in the final year.
What was the student culture like at ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ, and were there any annual traditions, societies, sports clubs, or events that you remember?
Incredible fun! The Students’ Union social events formed the basis of our lives: Top B, Decadance, Mojo – the parties were so memorable, and I made treasured friends for life.
Finish the sentence: ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ influenced who I am today, because…
It allowed me to become who I was meant to be.
