The British University Esports Championship (BUEC) Spring season is over and with it, the 2022/2023 academic year! The games are finished and the points have been totted up. A record number of 111 universities entered the race to be crowned Esports University of the Year. The competition has been even closer than ever this year with second to fourth place being incredibly tight, however one university still reigns supreme amongst the pack. For the fifth year in a row, the University of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ is the Esports University of the Year for 2022/2023! The University of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ has finished with an impressive 3,433 points.

On 17th April, the University of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ has been named the best university for gamers in the UK by Uswitch.

The ranking is based on a number of factors, including the availability and quality of gaming facilities on campus, the range of gaming societies and events, and the overall student experience for gamers.

Part of the University of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ’s Creative Futures initiative, the success of the esports programme is being recognised at the international Esports Awards. ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ have received two nominations, one for Esports Collegiate Programme of the Year, the second for Esports Collegiate Ambassador of the Year.

With both organisation from across the Atlantic emerging as national leaders in esports, representatives from the University of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ (United Kingdom) and the University of Waterloo (Canada) are exploring ways in which each of their flourishing esports activities can be enriched by trans-Atlantic international collaboration.

Staffordshire University won the first UK University Hearthstone League today as the live finals played out here at the Centre. Staffs students Carnage and Paradox, who is also a UK Hearthstone player for , beat ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ Ultrasaurs’ Harry Boyce and Eamon Lear in the final 3-1. Prizes for the top three teams included hoodies and shirts of choice from the official Hearthstone merch store, HyperX gaming mice and mouse mats and an official Hearthstone insulated water bottle. These prizes were made possible from the league’s sponsors, HyperX and BowenBros LTD.
