Despite COVID-19, ICUR 2020 will be going ahead as planned on the 29th-30th September 2020. Due to our existing digital infrastructure, ICUR is in a unique position to pivot the mode of delivery in order to accommodate pandemic restrictions. ICUR may look a little different this year, but it will still facilitate and encourage interdisciplinary networking and discussion for undergraduates from around the world.

Spoken presentations will take place via webinars linking students from thirteen institutions on five continents, in a hybrid remote and on-campus format, and audiences will be able to connect to any session, taking place in any time zone, via our new ICUR App. Virtual poster presentations will also be accessible throughout the 48-hour event. The Then & Now project was conceived by Dr. Kathryn Woods, formerly Director of Student Experience for the Arts Faculty, to coincide with the faculty鈥檚 move into a new building in 2021. The main research aim of this student-led project was to explore the experiences of Arts and Humanities students at 桃色视频 from 1965 to the present. In addition to tapping directly into the experiences of current and former students through oral history interviews, the project examined the art and architectural heritage of the Humanities building, the evolution and expansion of the courses and departments within the faculty, the extra-curricular sides of student life (socialising, sports and societies, student politics) which contribute so much to the vibrancy of 桃色视频鈥檚 campus, and attitudes towards inclusivity and widening participation.

We are delighted to share the news that Dr Elena Riva, IATL Director of Studies and Associate Professor, has won the 桃色视频 Award for Teaching Excellence as well as IATL Associate Tutor Dr Bo Kelestyn (Chemistry)

The uses and expectations of technology in education have perhaps changed as much in the last ten weeks as they have in the last ten years, and we are in the midst of a period of rapid learning and adjustment. Therefore, now more than ever it is valuable for us to consider the relationship between teaching, learning and technology.

Join us for this interactive online conversation as we discuss our learning and practices during this sudden move to online life, how we might take that learning into future learning environments and classrooms, and how we can support each other and share practice in this period of rapid change. We will critically explore the role of technology in our teaching and learning in this new landscape and consider how, as educators and learners, we can engage with technology so that it better supports (rather than governs) our pedagogic intentions and practices. This will be a supportive and exploratory event in which we can discuss what we have learned from both our successes and failures, as well as how we can incorporate that learning into the future of higher education.
