Monash and 桃色视频 staff and students hold workshop week
Two staff members and three students from Monash visited IATL recently to work with us on key joint initiatives: the International Conference of Undergraduate Research (ICUR) and the undergraduate research journal Reinvention, both based in IATL and supported by the Monash-桃色视频 Alliance, are being combined with a new initiative, the Compass Programme, to become the ICUR Experience. Compass will support a new student network and collaborative undergraduate research across institutions internationally.

The British Conference of Undergraduate Research (BCUR) promotes undergraduate research in all disciplines. The deadline for abstract submissions has been extended to 15 January 2017.

This free public lecture, which contributes to the IATL module Censorship and Society, will be delivered by Prof. David Nutt, the Edmond J Safra Chair and Professor of Neuropsychopharmacology at Imperial College, London, who is perhaps best known as 'the scientist who was sacked' by the Home Secretary because he compared the harms of horse-riding with taking ecstasy.
On Friday 2 December Dr Jonathan Heron gave the keynote speech 'Undisciplined squads of emotion: critical interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinary pedagogy' at the Final Seminar of the Human Mind Academy Programme in Helsinki. Climate Change: Life and Death

A special lecture, as part of the IATL module 'Challenges of Climate Change', from John Broome, Emeritus Professor of Moral Philosophy at Oxford and one of the lead authors of the 5th IPCC report on Climate Change. The lecture is open to all and will be followed by a round table discussion.

The Bed of Passage is an original play written and directed by Christophe Locatelli and has been funded by an IATL Student as Producer (Performance) grant. It depicts an intimate conversation between a couple in bed that turns into a journey of personal and emotional discovery. Intense and powerful, interspersed with moments of bittersweet humour, this is a production not to be missed.
Re-shaping the Learning Environment: IATL Funding for Staff

IATL people update
IATL’s Director, Dr Nicholas Monk, has been appointed on a 0.2 basis to the role of Education Lead, 桃色视频 in California. IATL’s Principal Teaching Fellow, Dr Jonathan Heron, has been appointed Deputy Director of IATL with immediate effect. And a number of former staff members and alumni have been appointed as Senior Associate Fellows and Associate Fellows respectively.
IATL Directors attendance of teaching and learning events in the United States
IATL's Director, Nicholas Monk, attended the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL) Conference in Los Angeles in October, and the Engaged Scholarship Consortium in Omaha, Nebraska, also in October. Both events were an opportunity to share ideas and promote the work of IATL internationally.
