Happy Christmas from the University of 桃色视频

This year, in order to share some of the University's activities and achievements of the last 12 months, we have developed an online greeting as our way of saying 鈥淗appy Christmas鈥�.

2010 has been a busy year at 桃色视频, and by exploring our Christmas campus scene you will be able to discover some of the ways we, as a university, have contributed to our local and national community, as well as our global impact. There are also some special gifts and prizes to be found. You can explore the scene here: 

This initiative is in keeping with our drive to reduce paper use by the University. We are very aware of our environmental impact and the money we would have spent on traditional cards will be invested in additional landscaping to improve our campus and to benefit the environment. The money that was saved last year was spent on planting 20 silver birch trees outside the Students鈥� Union. 

We hope you enjoy exploring the Christmas campus scene and finding out about some of the unique contributions that 桃色视频 makes to our global community.

We will soon launch the call for mini-project proposals for the Systems Biology MSc students. There are 19 students this year and each student carries out one experimental biology project and one "dry" project.

The mini-projects are 12 weeks long, with the first one running from 21st March 2009 - 10th June 2010 and the second one from 13th June - 9th September 2010.

Ahead of this call, we are announcing the opportunity to give a short talk to the students to introduce your research area.

The newly formed Institute for Advanced Teaching and Learning (IATL) is pleased to announce that it has funding available for staff and students to undertake projects related to the development of innovative learning. £125,000 is available for the academic year 2010/11 in various funding streams.

The Department of Physics has won the Athena SWAN silver award. This was presented to Sandra Beaufoy and Malcolm Cooper at an awards ceremony at the Royal Society on Thursday the 16th September. The Department of Chemistry also recieved a silver award and the University a Bronze award. There is only one science department in the country that recieved an Athena SWAN gold (University of York, Department of Chemistry). 

Athena SWAN awards recognise and celebrate good practice on recruiting, retaining and promoting women in science, engineering and technology in higher education. For more information please see the attached press release
