It is in honor of Prof Vincenzo Ferraro, an eminent Italian Astrophysicist who discovered the “Ferraro-Rosenbluth” sheath amongst many other discoveries. The prize supports and promotes studies of magneto hydrodynamics applied to astrophysics by giving an award every year to the best MSc or PhD thesis within the area of magneto hydrodynamics of space or laboratory plasma.

One of our postgrad EngD students, Rob Hughes recently won the IOPs Three Minute Wonder West Midlands regional heat competition.

A pair of identical twin brothers with a passion for atom-smashing have both gained PhDs in physics from the University of 桃色视频. Twenty-six year olds Mark and Leigh Whitehead, originally from Maidstone in Kent, came to the University of 桃色视频 as undergraduate students and both graduated with a first class MPhys in July 2008. The pair stayed on at 桃色视频 to complete PhDs in an area of particle physics which tries to understand the nature of matter in the universe.

They both graduated at a ceremony at 桃色视频 Arts Centre earlier this year. Congratulations!
