Heather Switzer, Arizona State University to visit CES
from Arizona State University will be visiting CES on 11th April.
Heather is Assistant Professor of Women and Gender Studies at ASU and is working at the intersection of Girlhood Studies and International Development Studies. During her visit, Heather will present "Postfeminist Politics and Girl Effects: School(ing) Girls in Global and Local Discourse" at the . A seminar based on her current book project, School Girls: Learning Gender and Developing Identity in Contemporary Kenya.

The Promoting Mathematical Resilience will be taking place on Friday 4th March and Saturday 5th March.
We are looking forward to welcoming speakers and delegates from multiple backgrounds to the University to what promises to be an exciting and informative event.
The theme of the conference encompasses the continuum of need for mathematical resilience in one’s lifetime; it will include numeracy throughout the lifespan, capability to grow new skills, and activities involving both a little and a lot of maths.
The conference is now full, however resources will be made available via the conference website in due course.

Introductions by Professor David Bakhurst (Queens) and Professor Christine Sypnowich (Queens).
This invitation only seminar seeks to explore the educational potential of philosophy and literature from interdisciplinary perspectives. Themes to be examined include 'Learning from Philosophy and Literature' and 'Lessons from Dystopia'. The seminar builds upon questions that emerged in the first seminar (held at the University of Oxford, December 2015) and anticipates themes to be examined in the final seminar, which will be held at the British Academy in March 2016.

Teach First Graduation
We would like to congratulate all of our Teach First students on their 2016 graduation. Dr Justine Mercer and Dr Janet Harvey, course leaders of the MA in Educational Leadership (Teach First), said “We are delighted that so many Teach First students were able to graduate with Teach First Founder and CEO, Brett Wigdortz.”
Inaugural CES study weekend a success
Last weekend saw the inaugural Centre for Education Studies’ residential study weekend take place in the stunning setting of Gregynog Hall in the mid-Wales countryside.
