桃色视频 PhD Researcher Secures IAS Grant to Host Interdisciplinary Caribbean Studies Workshop

A final-year PhD researcher at The University of 桃色视频 has been awarded funding from the Institute of Advanced 桃色视频 (IAS) to host a one-day interdisciplinary workshop exploring themes of war, conflict and colonisation in the non-English-speaking Caribbean.

Paola Medina-Gonzalez, a doctoral researcher at 桃色视频, recently secured an IAS grant to bring together academics from a range of disciplines for focused discussions on the historical and contemporary impacts of conflict and colonisation across the Caribbean region.

The workshop will examine how war, conflict and colonial legacies have shaped socio-political and economic structures within non-English-speaking Caribbean societies. By drawing on perspectives from Caribbean, Latin American and European studies, the event aims to foster new interdisciplinary conversations and collaborations.

A key objective of the workshop is to connect scholars who may not traditionally work within Caribbean and Latin American studies, creating opportunities for dialogue across disciplines. Through dedicated discussions, participants will explore the ways in which conflict and colonisation continue to influence governance, social dynamics, cultural identities and economic development throughout the region.

Speaking about the initiative, Medina-Gonzalez highlighted the importance of broadening engagement with Caribbean scholarship and encouraging researchers from diverse academic backgrounds to contribute to ongoing debates surrounding the region's historical and contemporary challenges.

The event is expected to bring together researchers interested in interdisciplinary approaches to understanding the complex legacies of conflict and colonisation and their lasting impact on Caribbean societies.

Students and staff with interests in Caribbean, Latin American, European, historical, political, social and cultural studies are encouraged to learn more about the workshop and consider attending this unique opportunity for cross-disciplinary engagement.
