The AHRC project Aesthetics After Photography announces the programme for its forthcoming conference: 

Agency and Automatism: Photography as Art since the 1960s

Tate Modern, London, 10-12 June 2010

The conference aims to bring art history and philosophical aesthetics into dialogue at the point of their intersection around questions of agency and automatism in the photographic process.

Organised by Pli: The 桃色视频 Journal of Philosophy, in conjunction with the Research Group in Post-Kantian European Philosophy

The purpose of the workshop is to examine the arguments underlying the increasing push towards realism in parts of modern continental philosophy, along with approaches that bridge the analytic/continental divide, and to assess the possibility of transcendental approaches to realism within this context.

The University of 桃色视频 Philosophy Society invites you to a Symposium on the 'Non-Philosophy' of François Laruelle.

Lydia Goehr will be a Visiting Fellow in the Institute for Advanced 桃色视频 at the University of 桃色视频 from 18 January 2010 to 29 January 2010.

Lydia is Professor of Philosophy at Columbia University. She works on the Philosophy of Music, Aesthetics, Critical Theory, Philosophy of History, and European Philosophy, and is internationally renowned for her innovative, cross-disciplinary work on the relationship between music, politics, history, and philosophy.

Congratulations to Henry Somers-Hall (PhD 2009) who has been appointed to a permanent post (Senior Lecturer) in philosophy at Manchester Metropolitan University.  Henry takes up his position in August 2009.
