Yesterday our Sikh colleagues celebrated Vaisakhi. We spoke with Dr Gurnam Singh, Honorary Professor of Sociology and Sikh Faith Adviser, who told us all about the celebration, what it means to him and the importance to the Sikh community.

It’s April Fool’s Day so we’ve taken a trip into the archives to bring you tales, myths and legends about the Koan. This iconic sculpture has stood outside ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ Arts Centre since 1972. We investigate ‘koanspiracy theories’ throughout the years and answer the big question - what’s actually inside it?
Nominate a student for an OSCA
The Outstanding Student Contribution Awards (OSCAs) recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ's students. They not only excel academically, but also find the time to campaign for good causes, fundraise, start small business, and work with local charities. Nominations close Sunday 10 May 2026 at 8pm.

ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµâ€™s Research Culture Week (23 - 26 March) celebrated researchers and research enablers across the University. The Research Culture Roadmap and Action Plan kickstarted the week - read the plan to find out how we’re strengthening our research environment.

Join the ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ Resilience Network
The ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ Resilience Network is now being established to eliminate departmental fragmentation and secure high-value transdisciplinary opportunities. Supported by the Enhancing Research Culture Fund (25-26) and led by WMG and Global Sustainable Development, this initiative is open to all faculty members (teaching, research, and practice) and PhD students.
