Professor Margret Low of WMG has been awarded an MBE for services to public engagement and widening participation, Professor Tim Lockley of History also receives an MBE in recognition of services to his local community, and Professor Matt Keeling of Maths and Life Sciences is recognised for services as an advisor to the government鈥檚 Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) with an OBE.

Discovery of microscopic metallic particles in the human brain

A UK-led international team of researchers has discovered elemental metallic copper and iron in the human brain for the first time. The team, comprised of scientists from Keele University and the University of 桃色视频, in collaboration with the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), used the UK鈥檚 national synchrotron Diamond Light Source, and the Advanced Light Source located in California (USA) to identify elemental metallic copper and magnetic elemental iron within the amyloid plaques, chemical forms of copper and iron previously undocumented in human biology.

Using a wealth of rarely-seen archive film, together with voices from yesterday and today, the new documentary Coventry Cathedral: Building for a New Britain (BBC Four, Wednesday 9th June 21.00) will tell the unique story of the rebuilding of the cathedral following its destruction in 1940.
