Brazilian communities that are vulnerable to devastating floods are being united and empowered to defend themselves, using ‘citizen science’ and a specially developed mobile app, thanks to two research projects led by the University of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ.

Virtual reality could help physiotherapy patients complete their exercises at home successfully thanks to researchers at WMG, University of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ, who managed to combine VR technology with 3D motion capture.

The conference, meeting and events team at the University of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ were awarded the title of ‘Business Events Venue of the Year’ and will now go through to the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.

Government reforms to housing benefit introduced in 2011 were intended to save the public purse hundreds of millions. Research from University of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ economists has found that, far from saving money, the change in policy simply shifted burdens to local councils: for every pound central government saved in housing benefit, local authority spending on temporary housing costs went up by 53p.
