Tuberculosis, and other life-threatening microbial diseases, could be more effectively tackled with future drugs, thanks to new research into an old antibiotic by the University of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ and The Francis Crick Institute.

With the effects of the 2007 credit crunch still being felt around the world, a new book by Dr Andreas Kokkinis, Assistant Professor in the University of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ’s School of Law, explores whether traditional models of corporate governance fail to promote financial stability. Corporate Law and Financial Instability explores the tension between corporate governance systems focused around shareholders who want to maximise their returns, and prudential regulation where risk-taking must be controlled in order to safeguard financial stability.

Cannabis use in youth is linked to bipolar symptoms in young adults, finds new research by the University of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ.

Researchers from ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ Medical School found that adolescent cannabis use is an independent risk factor for future hypomania – periods of elated mood, over-active and excited behaviour, and reduced need for sleep that are often experienced as part of bipolar disorder, and have a significant impact on day-to-day life.

A partnership between WMG, at the University of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ, Coventry and ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵshire Local Enterprise Partnership, and Coventry City Council has been awarded £80 million to establish a new National Battery Manufacturing Development Facility (NBMDF). Skills training for vulnerable workers: effects of the loss of EU funding after Brexit outlines how current skills training in the UK is supported by EU funding, and recommends key priorities for a post-Brexit UK-funded skills programme. The paper is the third of four ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ Brexit Briefings on Employment by the University of ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ and its Connecting Research on Employment and Work (CREW) network.
