AskEcho - EchVideo AI

AskEcho is an integrated AI provided by Echo360 as part of our EchoVideo platform for lecture capture and video streaming. It supports staff with managing their video content and students with revision and understanding.

This service is enabled at 桃色视频 for the automatic generation of chapters, titles, descriptions and tags for recordings.

AskEcho is not fully enabled at 桃色视频 so some of the features you may see online are not available e.g. creation of summaries, quizzes and study cards is not available at this time whilst it is evaluated.

AskEcho can be used to create metadata automatically for lecture captures and uploaded recordings.

How to use AskEcho

Step 1: Find a video

You can only add AskEcho content to videos where you are the 'owner'.

Log into Echovideo via the Moodle Lecture Capture block or directly via if you have already set a password on your account.
Select the Library tab at the top of the page.
Click on the relevant video 'media tile' to open the Media Details page.

For chapters to be auto-generated, the video must have a transcript.

Step 2: Enable and generate AskEcho features

From the Media Info icon at the top left-hand side, and the Details tab, click on AskEcho at the bottom of the list.
Choose which items you want to create by toggling the option on (pink, toggle to the right) or off (grey, toggle to the left) for each of the following:
- Chapters
- Title- we recommend disabling this when using AskEcho with lecture capture recordings as it overwrites the automatically generated title which includes week and date which many students find useful.
- Description
- Tags
Click Generate. This will take between a few seconds and a few minutes depending on the length of the video.

If you have chosen to generate a titlefor an uploaded video, then you will see this change immediately. The descriptionand tagswill appear in the right-hand side box beneath the video preview. Click Manage under the Chapters section to see the list of chapters that have been generated.

Step 3: Edit generated content

Title, Description, Tags

From the Details tab, click on General.
Click in the title or description fields to edit the text.
You can remove tags or add new tags. Type the name of a tag and press enter to save it.
Click the Save button to save changes.

Chapters

Click on the Chapters which is the fourth icon in the left-hand list or click the Manage button under the AskEcho Chapters section.
Click the Action Menu above the list of chapters.
Select Edit from the drop down list; or click Regenerate Chapters if you would like AskEcho to review and recreate an alternate list.
If you chose Edit, you can edit the start and end time for a chapter as well as the title by clicking on the relevant item.
Click the Save button at the top once you have finished editing.

Student view

Students can see the generated chapters in the EchoVideo player either by hovering over the timeline at the bottom of the video, or clicking on the settings icon at the bottom right and selecting Chapters.

Please note that if you share content directly with students e.g. for reasonable adjustments, they will have access to edit (and regenerate) the chapter titles (but not the title, description or tags). This permission cannot be removed. If you are concerned that this might introduce a risk, then we recommend sharing to a collection and giving the students access to this as view-only.
