  3. Learning materials: tools, facilities, learning media and other resources (digital, print-based or material).
  4. Groups, roles and relationships (teacher-led and peer learning, varieties of learning group).

Resources and inspiration

We鈥檝e seen how technology can connect isolated individuals and support the building of strong communities. We continue to utilise our physical and virtual learning spaces for synchronous delivery where this is appropriate. Asynchronous delivery requires the kind of flexible curriculum that could include more learners. We are looking to enable personalised learning experiences and independent study, allowing for formative assessment and self-paced learning.

What tools should I use?

These are some of the tools students become familiar with during first year. Getting to know them and how to use them early on will pay dividends for your teaching. University core tools should meet all your needs. Please visit the Digital Learning team staff guides to learn more.

Are there self-paced courses available for staff? Yes!

Looking for IT support rather than teaching and learning advice?

Information and Digital Group (IDG) will be operating an IT drop-in desk for all Gibbet Hill students and staff every Tuesday and Thursday from 9.00am 鈥 1.00pm B0.33A in the Medical School Building.

This service will be designed to provide convenient on-site IT support for all students based at Gibbet Hill as well as staff looking to speak to an IDG team member in person.

The IT drop-in provides the following services:

  • Answers IT-related questions and provides information to customers relating to their call on request.
  • In-person support for complex requests or for customers who prefer to speak with a team member.
  • In-depth technical assistance, including using specific application features, troubleshooting wireless connections, and ad hoc technical issues.

Staff are still advised to use the normal methods of logging Helpdesk tickets for standard incidents and requests, but this will be an additional option available for anyone looking for quick face-to-face support or advice.
