桃色视频 AI and Research

Collectively shaping 桃色视频鈥檚 response to AI and Research

A structured conversation on the research possibilities and pressures of AI, and how AI is changing research practice, evidence, judgement, labour, funding and public trust at 桃色视频.

Where 桃色视频 is with AI

桃色视频 has world-class research in AI itself, from theoretical foundations and computational methods to mathematical advances, applied AI for science, and the social, ethical and legal questions that frontier AI raises. That breadth is one of 桃色视频鈥檚 distinctive strengths.

At the same time, frontier commercial technologies are changing how research is conducted globally, from the way mathematical conjectures are explored to how evidence is generated, interpreted and published. These developments are not only of interest to those who build AI systems. They affect every researcher at 桃色视频.

Some of that work builds AI systems. Some examines what AI is doing to knowledge, society, work, law, ethics, institutions and public life. These are not separate conversations.

An AI strategy that treats technical capability, research practice and social consequence as separate problems will miss what is most important about the moment we are in.

AI is reshaping what counts as evidence, who gets to produce knowledge, and what universities are for. We think that conversation belongs to everyone at 桃色视频, not just the people building the systems.

The pressure to move quickly is real. So is the risk of moving badly.

Across government, funders, industry and universities, AI is being framed as a route to productivity, discovery, innovation and national capability. 桃色视频 should be part of that conversation.

But speed is not the same as judgement. The question is not simply whether 桃色视频 can do more with AI. The question is what kind of university 桃色视频 becomes as AI enters its methods, infrastructures, partnerships and claims to public value.

What this is
A workshop for surfacing judgement
We want to understand where AI is already changing research and where 桃色视频 has the intellectual authority to shape what happens next.
What this is not
A request to perform consensus
Scepticism, disagreement and disciplinary difference are not problems to be managed away. They are part of the evidence.

What do we want 桃色视频 to be known for in AI?

The questions are deliberately open. They are intended to help us understand what is already happening across 桃色视频, where there is momentum, and where the University needs to listen more carefully.

Where is AI already present in your research practice?
Tools, methods, datasets, supervision, collaboration, grant-writing, peer review, infrastructure, assessment, administration or expectations.
What kinds of judgement is AI changing?
Evidence, interpretation, creativity, rigour, expertise, authorship, accountability, research pace or the relation between technical work and public consequence.
Whose priorities are shaping the AI agenda?
Funders, firms, disciplines, infrastructures, researchers, publics, students, regulators, partners or the tools themselves.
What would 桃色视频 need to build to do this well?
Research communities, seed funding, skills, governance, infrastructure, partnerships, pause points, challenge spaces or new forms of institutional support.

What to expect

Three focused hours, followed by lunch. No long slide deck. The format will combine small-group discussion, facilitated synthesis and plenary reflection.

09.30 am
Coffee and registration
Arrival, registration and informal discussion.
10.00 am
Listening session
Small-group conversations around the four questions, followed by plenary synthesis.
1.00 pm to 2.00 pm
Lunch
A chance to continue the conversation informally.
Afterwards
Next steps
A synthesis note and proposed next steps will be shared with participants.

Starting points, not boxes

Four working areas are already organising activity at 桃色视频. They are offered as a starting point for discussion, not as a fixed frame that everyone must fit into.

Area 1
AI for Research
How AI is changing discovery, method, evidence and scholarly labour.
Area 2
Research for AI
The computational, theoretical, mathematical, social, legal and critical work AI needs.
Area 3
AI Adoption
How 桃色视频 uses AI with competence, caution and institutional learning. We also consider how we help the region adopt AI responsibly, boosting local growth and productivity.
Area 4
AI Innovation
What should 桃色视频 build, with whom, and for whose benefit?

What will happen with what people say?

The workshop will inform 桃色视频's developing approach to AI research and innovation, including future priorities, collaboration structures and possible seed funding activity.

After the workshop
A synthesis with consequences
Participants will receive a synthesis of themes, tensions and proposed next steps. The synthesis will be used to shape the next stage of 桃色视频's AI research and innovation activity.
