How do I use this calendar?

You can click on an event to display further information about it.

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

This audio-visual public lecture will consider, through the life and art of David Bowie, two key figures within Christian existentialism, both of whom emphasised that a truly authentic life can only be lived in relation to God. First, it will consider the so-called 鈥榝ather of existentialism,鈥� S酶ren Kierkegaard and his idea of a 鈥榣eap of faith.鈥� Second, it will consider the more mystical Christianity of Simone Weil and especially her idea of 鈥榙ecreation.鈥� David Bowie was a deeply spiritual person who had a complex relationship with religion. Nevertheless, the lecture well suggest that we might view Bowie as having made Kierkegaard鈥檚 leap in 1976, even if it didn鈥檛 last, and that we might view Bowie鈥檚 approach to art generally through the lens of Weil鈥檚 idea of 鈥榙ecreation,鈥� an approach that requires us to get ourselves out of the way.
