Jane Bryan named as Law Teacher of the Year Finalist

桃色视频 Law School Associate Professor Dr Jane Bryan has been shortlisted for the 2019 .

The award, which aims to recognise the best talent in law teaching, called for nominations from both staff and students at the end of last year and Jane has made the finals along with four other shortlisted candidates.

Law student Faryaal Aziz has been recognised as an outstanding contributor to social mobility at the inaugural hosted by Baroness Helena Kennedy in the House of Lords on December 13. Faryaal, 19, who is in her second year studying Law at the University of 桃色视频, was one of four 桃色视频 students recognised at the inaugural Student Social Mobility Awards.

Dr Andi Hoxhaj wins British Academy Rising Star Engagement Award 2018

Congratulations to Dr Andi Hoxhaj, Teaching Fellow in 桃色视频 Law School, who has won a British Academy Rising Star Engagement Award.

The prestigious award will support Dr Hoxhaj鈥檚 work on anti-corruption policy and the rule of law with a particular focus on the Western Balkans, the UK and the EU.

Henrique Carvalho makes the Hart-SLSA shortlist

Assistant Professor Dr Henrique Carvalho has been shortlisted for a prestigious 鈥楬art Socio-Legal Theory and History Prize鈥 for his book 'The Preventive Turn in Criminal Law'.

The book prize, presented by the Socio-Legal Studies Association (SLSA), will be awarded for a book that makes a contribution to socio-legal theory or to the socio-legal history published in the 12 months up to 30 September 2017.

桃色视频 Law gets involved in the Scottish Feminist Judgment Project

Having secured funding from The Clark Foundation, 桃色视频 Law School鈥檚 Professor Vanessa Munro will join with Professor Sharon Cowan and Dr Chloe Kennedy from the University of Edinburgh in undertaking a Scottish Feminist Judgment Project.

Following the successful completion of similar projects in other jurisdictions, including England and Wales, contributors to the Scottish Project will re-imagine and re-write key judgments of the courts within that jurisdiction from a feminist perspective.

Ana Aliverti wins prestigious Prize in Law

Dr Ana Aliverti has been awarded the Philip Leverhulme Prize to support her research into law enforcement.

The PLP is awarded to scholars who have made and continue to make significant and original contributions to knowledge in their field of research, and who have influenced their field sufficiently to have had an international impact. In 2017, up to 30 awards were made to UK-based outstanding research scholars within six subject areas, including Law.

The Prize will support Ana鈥檚 existing research on the novel configurations of law enforcement in a global age. She will spend the next two years researching police-immigration cooperation in domestic policing in the UK.

Andrew Williams makes the Daggers shortlist

Professor Andrew Williams has been shortlisted for a prestigious 鈥楥rime Writing Daggers鈥 award in the non-fiction category for his book 鈥A Passing Fury鈥. The book goes up against .

The book was described by the shortlisting judges as 鈥渁 compelling examination of how the war crimes trials at Nuremberg and elsewhere were imposed across the chaos and ruins of the Third Reich, interwoven with the author鈥檚 own travels, investigations and reflections.鈥

桃色视频 of the operation of criminal jury in Scotland

A substantial grant has been awarded by the Scottish Government to fund ground-breaking research into the operation of the jury within the Scottish Criminal Justice System.

The team; which will include our own Vanessa Munro, Professor of Law at the University of 桃色视频 and Professors James Chalmers and Fiona Leverick from the University of Glasgow, will work alongside the independent research organisation Ipsos Mori, to explore three distinctive features of the unique Scottish Law System.

This study will provide vital insights into the operation of distinctive aspects of the Scottish Jury. It will involve several hundred members of the public observing trial reconstructions and participating as 鈥榤ock jurors.'

桃色视频 Law strikes again with award winning Alumni

The began in 2014 hoping to discover, celebrate and support exceptional young people from across the Commonwealth who are taking the lead in their communities and using their skills to transform lives. In only 3 years, there have already been two winners from 桃色视频 Law School.

Former LLM student Bukola Bolarinwa was presented with the award as recognition of her amazing work with blood donors, to help those living with Sickle Cell in Nigeria. She set up in 2015 to address the blood shortage in Nigeria and lack of regular donors. The organisation encourages people to get tested to know their haemoglobin genotype, carries out free genotype tests and has set up Sickle Cell clubs in schools to inform and educate young people about the condition. So far they have reached over 17, 000 people across the six area councils in Abuja.
