ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ Law School welcomes a new Associate Professor to our community.
Prior to joining ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ, Alex Powell was an Associate Professor in Law at Oxford Brookes University, where he also acted as Director of the LLM Programmes.

Achas Burin joins us from Oxford Brookes University where she taught tort and medical law and developed a book proposal based on her PhD.

ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ Law School launches the 2025/26 Writing Wrongs Schools Programme
Writing Wrongs is a writing programme for local Year 12 and 13 students which supports young writers from widening participation backgrounds to explore issues related to social justice and to improve their storytelling and writing skills. ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ has retained sixth place position in the latest University rankings. The Daily Mail University Guide 2026 highlighted excellence in graduate salaries, support for students to achieve high-skilled jobs, and research quality.
Yomi Adegoke, who studied on our 3 year LLB degree and graduated in 2014 has made the University Challenge 2024 Christmas special line-up. Journalist and author Yomi, whose debut novel ‘Slay In Your Lane’ was adapted into TV programme ‘The List’ will join three other ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ alumni to fight for the title of Christmas champions. Don't miss the University Challenge Christmas series, starting on 23 December at 8.30pm on BBC iPlayer and BBC Two.

ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ Law School is pleased to welcome Dr Anil Yilmaz Vastardis from Essex Law School, University of Essex to our community. Dr Yilmaz Vastardis has been appointed as Honorary Associate Professor with the GLOBE Centre and will be supporting research, teaching, impact and engagement activities, and collaborations with colleagues.

We are thrilled to announce that ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ Law School has achieved excellent results in the 2024 National Student Survey (NSS), reflecting high levels of student satisfaction. The survey gathers feedback from final-year undergraduate students on a variety of academic and student experience factors.

WLS Alumna Bience Gawanas appointed as new Chancellor
The Namibian lawyer, diplomat and social justice advocate Bience Gawanas (LLB Law, 1986) has been appointed as our new Chancellor. Discover more about Bience, a former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, and a ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ alumna.
ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ Law School welcomes new Visiting Fellow
ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ Law School welcomes IAS Visiting Fellow Dr Basani Baloyi from the Institute for Economic Justice (IEJ) in South Africa to our community. She will be working with us until 25 October this year. Whilst at ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ, Dr Baloyi will be based at the Centre for Law, Regulation and Governance of the Global Economy (GLOBE).
