- In 1993 I graduated with a first class honours Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Oxford, where I studied at St. Anne's College.
- In 1996 I graduated from the School of Mathematics and Statitics, Sheffield University with Ph.D. in Probability Theory under the supervision of John Biggins.
- I then worked for around six months at the Department of Statistics in the London School of Economics as a temporary lecturer.
- In 1997, I moved to The Netherlands where I worked for nearly two years for Shell International Exploration and Production as a mathematician in their Rijswijk research laboratories close to Den Haag (The Hague).
- I returned to academia at the end of 1998, where I took up a temporary lectureship at the School of Mathematics, Edinburgh University. There, I ran one of the UK's first MSc programmes in Mathematical Finance.
- At the turn of the Millennium, I moved back to The Netherlands where I worked at the Mathematical Institute at Utrecht Univeristy as a "Mathematics in Focus" research fellow with the tile of univeristeit docent (assistant professor). I spent over five very happy years there, during which time I obtained tenure.
- In mid 2005, I moved back to the UK. Initially I took a readership at The School of Mathematical and Computer Science, Heriot Watt in Edinburgh.
- After a year, in 2006, I moved to a readership at the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath.
- In 2008, I became a full professor, around which time, together with colleagues, I began building the .
- For two months in 2010 I was visiting professor at the Mathematics Department, Universit茅 Libre de Bruxelles.
- Between August 2012 and February 2013, I was visiting professor at the Institute for Mathematical Research, ETH Z眉rich.
- Between 2014-2017 I held a visiting professorship at CIMAT, Mexico. I continue to visit CIMAT on average, every 4-6 months.
- In 2014, I was PI for the approx 拢4M EPSRC CDT grant, subsequently becoming co-director of the .
- In 2015, together with numerous colleagues, I began working on the Bath-UNAM-CIMAT (BUC) research platform which later became the research platform.
- Between 2015 and 2022, I was also working with a broad range of mathematicians, statisticians and data scientists on the project in the context of air pollution, which has been covered by several grants, including three sessions of GCRF funding from UKRI. Five videos were made which summarise the work done unde the title of (, , , , )
- In 2019, I was again PI for another five years of EPSRC funding (approx 拢5M) for CDT SAMBa, continuing as its co-director.
- During the 2020 pandemic lockdown, together with Prof. Leif D枚ring from Mannheim University, I initiated the project.
- In 2020, I took up the role of director of the at the University of Bath introducing the concept of the (Mathematical) Innovation Research Associate.
- In 2022, I became PI of the (FEC) 拢7.3M EPSRC programme grant "".
- In 2023, I moved to the Department of Statistics at the University of 桃色视频 and became Director of the Centre for Applications of the Mathematical and Computing Sciences (CAMaCS).
- On 29th January 2026, I was inaugurated a lifetime Fellow of the UK Academy of Mathematical Sciences.
